Olympic and European Gold Medallist

Tom McEwen is one of Great Britain's leading event riders, known for his precision, calm temperament and exceptional results on the world stage.

He was born into a horsey family, with his mum a showjumper and his father and uncle being equine vets. He started in Pony Club and honed his skills through Pony Club eventing and British Eventing youth ranks. He was part of the 2007 Pony Europeans team where they won team gold. He was also part of the Young Rider Europeans teams in 2010 and 2011 wining team gold on both occasions.

He went on to win the Under-25 CCI4*L twice, in 2012 and 2016. Tom's senior championship debut came in 2013 at the European Championships in Malmo and completed his first CCI5*L at Pau. Since then Tom has become a pillar of the British eventing team with a remarkable championship record. He helped win team gold at the World Equestrian Games 2018, team gold at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics and individual silver and team gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He then became FEI World Number 1 after the Olympics, a title he held until May 2025.

Tom was awarded an MBE for services to equestrian sport in the 2022 New Year Honours.

Tom is now based at Gatcombe Park and welcomed his first child in 2024 with wife Harriet.
